Throughout my life as a young person, I have always been asked the same question: “Are you not too young for this?”

This question has followed me throughout the course of my life: from my classroom at school, to meetings with prospective partners and donors, and even to the halls of the United Nations.

I have always responded to that question through my work and the impact that work has delivered. I prepared, credentialed, and advocated until that question, and the biased logic behind it, lost its force.

One way I am answering that question is through my work with the DMUN Foundation, where I have had the privilege of leading the Foundation Secretariat and its 27,000 members as Executive Director since its founding in 2021.

As the world’s largest international non-governmental organisation dedicated to the representation, education, and advocacy for children and youth in multilateral institutions, our advocacy has removed countless age-based barriers in intergovernmental processes, secured enhanced support for youth-led programmes, and mandated the inclusion of representatives of young persons in numerous multilateral bodies and conferences.

I also serve as the Thematic Focal Point for Tax for the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth, supporting the participation of over 20,000 youth organisations in the negotiations toward a UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation. At the time of my appointment, I was the youngest person to hold such a mandate since the creation of the Major Group at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Elected in 2025, I also have the pleasure of serving as Member at-large of the NGO Committee on Financing for Development in New York, making me the youngest Executive Committee member of the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO) since its founding in 1948.

I have also had the pleasure of sharing my professional and lived expertise across numerous events and engagements. I served as the youngest Keynote Speaker of the Youth Forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Council since its creation in 2012, and the youngest Opening Speaker for the Ministerial Segment of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development since the creation of its predecessor, the Commission on Sustainable Development, in 1992.

I hope that these snippets from my career have offered you some of the pathways through which I have responded to that age-old question.
